The Mercedes Benz fan blower motor regulator is a series of resisters in a printed add-in about 2-inches square located right next to the blower motor. The Mercedes has a series of sensors that, working in concert with a computer, uphold a never-ending clime in response to the settings on the cabinet. These sensors even sense when the windowpane is down or the doorway is open and increase the fan quicken A necessary to maintain a unremitting temperature inside the car.
Step 1
Polish of the rider side, lower dash cover under the glove compartment that conceals the blower motor. A 1/4-inch socket volition be needful to take the screws holding the cover. Site the blower motor. The motor can be seen hanging down close to the passenger kick dialog box. Just to the left of the blower motor, an electric connector connected to a flat 1-in-by-2-edge collection plate can be seen. This is the blower motor resister, which controls the fan speeds.
Step 2
Gulf the multi-wire connector from the blower motor adversary adjacent to the blower motor. Get down the car and turn the air conditioning connected.
Step 3
Tryout the connector for power at the terminals in the connector using the voltmeter. If there is power, reinstall the connector to the obstructionist. If there is no power at the connector, there is a problem with the console on the scare away, and the console should be replaced.
Get rid of the wire connector that can be seen at the blower motor itself. Test this connector for power. If at that place is power at this connection, the cetacean mammal motor is at fault and needs to be replaced. If there no power is launch, the blower motor resister is the perpetrator and needs to be replaced.
Tips
- As a note, 85 pct of the time when the blower motor does not occur on or operates at one speed only, the blower motor resister is guilty. The resister emits substantial heat from the resistance it supplies and eventually burns up. The resister is inexpensive A parts go and is simple to supervene upon. Just disconnect the connector and remove the two screws to replace the resister.
- To test using the voltmeter, touch a good ground with the harmful lead. Test each electric circuit aside moving the positive Pb to the circuit.
Things You'll Need
- ¼-inch effort ratchet dow
- Set of ¼-edge in drive sockets
- Volt/Ohmmeter
